Book Journey: How Economics Can Save the World
As I grew older, my interest in economics grew. The ability of economics to manage a nation by regulating prices, inflation, or interest rates used to astound me. However, Erik Angner's book offers other beautiful perspectives. In fact, by applying the economic way of thinking, economics can help us make the world a better place.
This book shows how economics can optimistically tackle a startling array of issues, including human behaviour, happiness, parenting, poverty, and climate change. The most fascinating thing I took away from the book was that, by applying "the parenting economist" and conducting extensive research on childrearing, we could raise happy kids while maintaining our sanity. Since every parent's situation is unique, there is no ideal default option because, after all, economics is all about choice. Furthermore, by preventing the issue of overconfidence and encouraging us to test our assumptions before making decisions, economics can impart humility in us.
Surely, it is a super exciting book! :)
